I am delighted to write my first editorial on Dentists' Day after joining the Bitein team as the Editor (E-journal). Happy Dentists' day to you all ! As I begin this new exciting journey, I wish to thank the Bite-in team for inviting me to join their ever enthusiastic group of innovative individuals.
We seem to be living in very interesting times where, be it- climate, political scenario, technology, healthcare system or dentistry- everything is changing rapidly. Technology has revolutionized dentistry, more so in recent times and has made it more interesting and more predictable. So many gray areas in early detection of conditions, their accurate diagnosis, treatment planning & execution have changed for the better, thus enhancing the quality of patient care as well as dental practice efficiency.
On the other hand, the rush of newer materials and their constant bombardment is leaving many dentists in a dilemma as to what all things have to be incorporated into their practice. The question is how to find out which of the newly emerging concepts is really worth the hype, whether to embrace it or not, and how frequently one should upgrade his/ her armamentarium. The need of the hour is to find out the real evidence - as they say - to filter out the signal from background noise & chaos and cater it to practicing dentists. E-journals have revolutionized the style of information dissemination across the globe. Let us use this platform wisely to help the dental community and simplify their decision making process by equipping them with facts backed by solid evidence.
