Description
The efficacy of local delivery systems for resolution of periodontal pockets have been widely reported in the literature. There are a number of delivery systems that have also been studied. One very potent product is an Indian product called PPAB (Periodontal Plus AB). It contains collagen fibres impregnated with Tetracycline. These fibres dissolve over a period of time (72 -96 hours for complete breakdown) and release the tetracycline in high levels. The objective of this study is to assess the efficacy of PPAB in reducing pocket depths and checking the CAL gain after a short term use of PPAB over a 9 day period. The PPAB would be placed in pockets with depths of more than 4 mm. PPAB would be placed on Day Zero, Day Three and Day Six. The pocket depths would be recorded on Day Zero, Day Nine and then three weeks from Day Zero. The study would require 30 sites to be assessed with no more than two sites in any subject and no two sites being in the same quadrant.
